Omasum
Omasum
The Omasum, also known as the “book stomach,” is one of the four compartments in a ruminant’s stomach. It is located between the reticulum and abomasum. The omasum is responsible for the absorption of water and nutrients from partially digested food and has a layered structure resembling pages in a book, which aids in this process. It plays a crucial role in the digestive system of ruminants, contributing to the efficient breakdown and absorption of nutrients.
